Alexandre Arminjon is the founder and manager of Ithaque Chambre Noire, a shared darkroom and exhibition venue which he opened in October 2020 in the heart of the Marais in Paris.
Ithaque is the studio of Alexandre, where he develops and prints his photos; it is also a space he shares with other artists who print their photos in the darkroom. Ithaque has a partnership program with Cité Internationale des Arts and has hosted residents from various corners of the world, from Chile to Belarus, USA, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Tasmania… Ithaque is especially interested in the Middle East and Latin America, following Alexandre’s travels to the Atacama desert as well as Iran. Ithaque tries to foster intercultural dialog in a spirit of independence.
Ithaque is also a white cube gallery dedicated to black and white photography primarily but also other mediums periodically. Ithaque organises workshops giving cameras to kids in the suburbs of Paris, and also some corporate cocktail gatherings.
